Panther girls begin indoor track and field season
The Mt. Pleasant girls track and field team opened their 2012 Indoor Season in Iowa City Tuesday night.
There were 20 teams competing, including many of the top 4A and 3A teams in the state.
Mt. Pleasant girls finished in the top seven of four different events; there were a total of 11 events held.
The highest finish was by freshman Hannah Becker, who took fifth in the 60 meter hurdles.
A terrific 2:27 anchor time by Chloe Haffarnan helped the 4 x 800 meter relay to a sixth place finish. Sierra Wyse (2:43), Taryne Shull (2:39), and Natalie Ita (2:36 ) ran the first three legs.
The distance medley relay of Kaitlin Jones, Taylor Shull, Sierra Wyse and Haffarnan finished seventh in 4:38.2, as did Grace Lutovsky in the high jump at 4-10.
Mt. Pleasant Coach Dave Hutchcroft also named Natalie Myers and Hattie Liechty as runner who competed well on Tuesday.
The next meet for the girls’ squad will be at the Iowa State Indoor in Ames on Monday, March 12.
