Man dies after striking semi on Wednesday
Mt. Pleasant was the scene of a traffic accident Wednesday, the result being another fatality caused by a vehicle in the past several weeks.
According to a police report, on Wednesday, May 5, at approximately 2:54 p.m., the Mt. Pleasant Police Department was called to E. Washington Street near Shottenkirk’s entrance in reference to a traffic accident. The report, issued by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, went on to say that the accident involved a passenger car and a tractor/trailer.
The driver of the passenger car was taken by ambulance to the Henry County Health Center. He was then air lifted to the University of Iowa Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The deceased’s identity is not being released at this time pending the notification of family.
The driver of the semi was treated at the scene and released. The accident is still under investigation.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted by the Henry County Ambulance and the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department.
