‘It’s a go’: Groceries in store for Wayland
At the Wednesday, June 2 meeting of the Wayland City Council, $75,000 was gifted to Wayland Economic Development to start a revolving fund.
The money, according to Mayor Bradley Roth, will be used to make a loan for a grocery store. Roth also said a grocery store is coming to Wayland.
“It is a go,” Roth said.
The grocery store, according to the mayor, will be part of a small independent chain. Each store has its own unique name, Roth said. The mayor declined to release the name of the storeowner at this time.
“It’s a small grocery store chain. It’s not a known chain. He’s got five others already,” Roth said.
The revolving fund established, according to Roth, will be used to assist businesses in the future.
“The revolving fund for Wayland starting now will go into the future and help more businesses,” Roth said.
