Student struck near Lincoln School
A car-pedestrian accident, shortly after 8 a.m., injured an eight-year-old Lincoln Elementary School student this morning in front of the school. According to witnesses and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department report, the boy was struck as he was crossing the street from north to south to the school. The car was traveling east and the sun may have been a factor. School officials declined to release the victim’s name. However, it was believed the injuries were not life-threatening. The student was conscious and talking as he was being placed on the stretcher. He was taken by Henry County Ambulance to the Henry County Health Center for further treatment. Assisting the Mt. Pleasant Police Department at the scene were the Henry County Ambulance, Mt. Pleasant Fire Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
