Access Energy receives pass-through grant to aid Henry County Health Center
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, announced that the Access Energy Cooperative in Henry County has received a grant of $300,000 and a loan of $495,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development Program. The funding will go toward technological upgrades and improved access to quality health care at the Henry County Health Center.
“Residents of all communities deserve access to quality health care,” said Harkin. “In rural areas, this care can be harder to access. For that reason, investments such as the award announced today can make all the difference for residents to access quality care in a modern facility. I congratulate the Access Energy Cooperative on this competitive funding and I look forward to the improvements it will generate.”
The funding will be used to create a revolving loan fund that will allow Henry County Health Center to purchase equipment for the surgical and outpatient departments. This project will create three new jobs and assist in retaining existing jobs.
