After weekend rainout, two nights of racing come to CJ Speedway this week
COLUMBUS JUNCTION — Races at CJ Speedway were canceled last Friday night, July 19, when the rain started following the completion of two heat races.
Race fans will see added racing this week with two nights of action.
Thursday, July 25, the Corn Belt Clash Open Outlaw Late Model Series will invade CJ Speedway. See the some of the best in late model racing taking on the dirt oval for a $3,000 to win top prize.
Chad Simpson, three-time Corn Belt Clash Late Model winner at CJ Speedway, will try to defend his title.
Also on the card will be the IMCA Sport Compacts racing for $250 to win, sponsored by C.J. Tire and Columbus Junction State Bank. Trophy sponsor is Graves Oil in Columbus Junction.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with hot laps at 7 p.m. and racing starting at 7:30 p.m.
Fans can then come back on Friday, July 26, for the Louisa County Fair Race, sponsored by Screamer Express, Morning Sun. IMCA type late models will be back at CJ Speedway racing for $1,000 to win. Also competing for points will be Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Mod Lites, IMCA Sport Compacts and Trucks.
The Tim Sands Junior Fan Club will be giving away prizes and two bikes for the kids. Again, gates will open at 5:30 p.m., hot laps at 7 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
