Allred, Hughes receive culinary scholarships
Nathan Allred and Heather Hughes, both of Mt. Pleasant, have been awarded scholarships by the Indian Hills Community College Culinary Arts Department.
Allred and Hughes are in their second year of the program, which is accredited by the American Culinary Federation.
“We are very proud of Nathan’s and Heather’s achievements both academically and in the community,” said Gordon Rader, certified executive chef and Indian Hills Culinary Arts program director. “They deserve all the assistance we can offer with their educational goals.”
The scholarship was funded by the seventh annual eight-course gourmet dinner held recently at Indian Hills.
The dinner was planned and prepared by the college’s Culinary Arts students.
“This dinner provides the Indian Hills students with an opportunity to experience what it is like to serve a gourmet dining experience for a large gathering,” Rader said.
There was a record 134 people in attendance at this year’s dinner.
