Annual Mt. Pleasant Show Choir Invitational set for Saturday
The 24th Annual Mt. Pleasant Show Choir Invitational “Music InMotion” is set for Saturday, Feb. 4, at Mt. Pleasant High School.
The invitational will feature performances by 10 ensembles from across the region. High school show choirs competing will be from Davenport Central, Cedar Rapids Xavier, Central Lee, Ft. Madison, West Burlington, Pekin, Ill., and Hannibal Mo. Mt. Pleasant Middle School’s Chain Reaction and Mt. Pleasant High School’s InMotion will present exhibition performances. Approximately 600 students will be involved as singers, dancers, instrumentalists and support crews.
Saturday’s competition begins at 12:30 p.m., with all groups performing in the preliminary round. The five groups with the highest scores will perform again in the evening, beginning at 6:15 p.m. Winners will be announced at 9:15 p.m.
There will be a variety of food for sale by the music boosters beginning at 9 a.m., for the convenience of the performers and their fans.
Tickets will be available at the door. The event is sponsored by the Mt. Pleasant Music Boosters, and proceeds will be used to support the K-12 music program in the school district.
