Area students graduate, obtain honors status at various colleges
MOUNT VERNON – Teah DuVall of Mt. Pleasant was one of 250 students to graduate from Cornell College on May 11.
DuVall graduated with a bachelor of arts in biochemistry and molecular biology.
Cornell College in Mt. Vernon is a national liberal arts college with a One Course At A Time curriculum.
AMES – Emily Kudobe, Cody Smith and Bobbi Newman, all of Mt. Pleasant and Nathan Shelman of Olds, received degrees during Iowa State University’s spring commencement ceremonies.
OTTUMWA – Taylor Buchholz, and Charley Lorber, both of New London; Katelyn Klein of Salem; Mason Ferguson and Alanna Morrow, both of Wayland; Elizabeth Darwin, Angela Garmoe, Curtis McCoy, Antwaur Silva, Whitney Stuart, Carrie Vincent, Jackie Ward and Zachary White, all of Mt. Pleasant, completed their graduation requirements at the end of the 2014 spring term at Indian Hills Community College.
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Lisa Moeller of Mt. Pleasant was named to the Truman State University spring 2014 provost and vice-president for academic affairs list.
To qualify for this list, an undergraduate student must attain a semester 3.50-3.99 grade point average and must complete 12 semester hours of credit.
Founded in 1867, Truman has the highest graduation rate among the state’s public colleges and universities.
MARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State University student Emily Well of Mt. Pleasant, a junior majoring in elementary education was recently recognized during the university’s spring academic celebration as a recipient of Arthur “Doc” Yates and Maxine Gooden Yates Scholarship.
Wells was one of about 125 Northwest students recognized at the ceremony.
OSKALOOSA – William Penn University announced that Jennie O’Donnell of Mt. Pleasant has been named to the president’s list for the spring 2014 semester.
To be included on the president’s list, a student must complete at least 12 hours of credit with a minimum grade point average of 3.9 on a 4.0 scale.
SHELDON – Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon announced that James Ruble of Mt. Pleasant has been named to the honor list for spring semester.
Students on the honor list are full-time and have achieved an average grade point of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
