Author to speak at IWC forum tomorrow
Iowa author Joe Blair will speak at Iowa Wesleyan College tomorrow. Blair is the author of “By the Iowa Sea,” a memoir, published in 2012 by Simon Schuster press. His essays have appeared in the New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, The Iowa Review and Salon.com.
Blair’s memoir is described by Julie Metz, author of a NYT best-selling memoir: “A devastating flood provides the backdrop for Joe Blair’s moving memoir about crisis and change. ..” Another published author writes, “[Joe Blair] also conjures up the beauty of the Iowa landscape – even underwater.” Yet another praises the book as being “sometimes angry, often startling, and always [a] riveting journey through infidelity, drinking, storms, work, beauty, and the simultaneous frustration and sublimity of raising a disabled child.”
Blair lives in Coralville with his wife and four children. He is a graduate of The University of Massachusetts / Lowell, and The University of Iowa’s non-fiction writing program.
The program begins at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Thurs.) in the Chapel Auditorium on the Iowa Wesleyan College campus in Mount Pleasant. The program is free and open to the public.
