Blair sets school records
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Savanna Blair found the back of the net nine times to set two new school records as the Iowa Wesleyan College women’s soccer team defeated Stephens College (Mo.) by a score of 15-0 on Monday.
Blair, a junior from Redlands, Calif., now holds the school record for goals in a game and points in a game (19).
Hannah Maledy also had a good day for the Tigers, recording a hat trick as she got the ball passed the Stephens goalkeeper twice in the first half and once in the second half. Maledy also assisted on a goal by Blair.
Casie Lyons had two goals and one assist on the afternoon, while Cecily Herby added a goal for the purple and white as well.
The Tigers commanded every aspect of the game, taking 39 shots and putting 25 of them on goal. They limited Stephens to just six shots.
Caitlin O’Neil needed to make just three saves in the net for the Tigers.
The win moves the Tigers to 1-1 on the year. They return to action tomorrow (Wednesday) when they host Coe College. The game is set to start at 4 p.m. at East Lake Park.
The IWC men’s team (0-4) will also host Coe on Wednesday in a match that begins at 2 p.m.
