Hair stylist Lexie Wilson, of Mt. Pleasant, is bringing hair styling and a lot more to Mt. Pleasant with the opening of Euphoria Salon.
A longtime stylist working in Burlington, Wilson has now made the opening of her local salon at 208 North Main official with a recent ribbon cutting and open house. A business owner, wife and mother of three young children, Wilson says moving her business from Burlington to Mt. Pleasant was made so that she could spend more time with her family, while still doing what she loves.
“I’ve always loved doing hair and I’ve been in styling for about 12 years now,” she said. “I wanted more time available in my schedule for my kids and my family, and driving to Burlington every day just wasn’t allowing for that…Now that I am here, it’s been a great move for me personally, but also for my family.”
Wilson has now been seeing clients in her new location for about a month, and she says business has been good. Despite being nervous about learning the ins and outs of owning a small business, she says the transition from her former workplace in Burlington to owning her own shop in Mt. Pleasant has been a fairly smooth one. In addition, she says she and her fellow stylist, Michelle Rich, have been seeing many new local clients.
Rich is new to hair styling herself. A recent graduate of a hair styling program, Rich says the opportunity to work with an established local stylist like Wilson, and the chance to work in a new salon has been delightful.
“I worked in other careers for awhile and just realized it wasn’t for me,” she said. “Now, I am doing what I love…It’s great to come into work today and love what you do.”
Currently, the salon offers services in hair cutting, custom hair coloring and styling, as well as manicures, pedicures and body waxing. Additionally, the salon provides eyelash and hair extension applications, which Wilson has been doing herself for roughly 10 years.
Looking into the future, Wilson says she would like to eventually offer facials and cosmetology services in the salon.
“I had a great client following in Burlington, and I was nervous about moving from Burlington, but so far, I have had a lot of clients who have stayed with me and have really started to pick up new clients since we opened a month ago, which has been amazing,” she said. “Mt. Pleasant has been very good to us, and we are excited to bring all that we have to offer to the area.”
When designing the look and overall vibe of the salon, Wilson says she hopes the rustic, elegant and relaxed feel of the shop gives her clients a sense of relaxation and tranquility, which is also reflected in the name of her business.
“The meaning of euphoria is happiness, and when people leave our salon, I want them to feel happy about themselves and the way they look,” she says. “If we can make our clients feel welcomed, relaxed and give them the sense that they are being refreshed, then we have done our job.”
