Britton J. Kelley
Mr. Britton J. Kelley, 61, Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
There will be no service at this time. It will be held at a later date. Elliott Chapel, New London is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Nov. 10, 1951, at the Annie Wittenmyer Home in Davenport, and was adopted by James “Jim” and Helen Barton Kelley. In March of 1988, he married Janet Obermann. He was a graduate of Danville High School and attended Carl Sandberg College in Galesburg, Ill. He was an Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a long distance truck driver for Dickey’s in Packwood, and a sheriff’s deputy in Knox County. He retired three years ago.
He loved horses and was a member of the Lockridge Rough Riders Saddle Club. He enjoyed riding, hunting, trapping and spending time in the woods.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Jessica Holsteen of Arvada, Colo.; one grandson; three brothers, David (Jennifer) Kelley of Montreal, Canada, Mo., Scott Kelley of Keokuk, Harry (Betty) Knight of Atlantic; and two sisters, Sandra Strange of Montreal, and Cori (Patrick) Keefe of Shevlin, Minn.
