Byron "Chip" McGuire
Byron “Chip” McGuire, 50, Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, at the Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charles Courtney officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery at a later date. Born Dec. 22, 1962, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of Myron R. and Trudi Ann (Newman) McGuire. He attended Mt. Pleasant Community High School and graduated in 1981.
For over 20 years, he worked as a night manager at Z’s Quick Break, primarily in Mt. Pleasant, but also at the store in Manchester. His prior work had been with Gary’s Shell and Whaley’s Sinclair.
Favorite hobbies included going to libraries and reading. He enjoyed a good discussion over a variety of topics, and was a genealogy researcher. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Open Bible Church, and was attending Grace Community Friends Church.
He is survived by his father; a brother, Michael (Angela) McGuire of Mt. Pleasant; and a sister, Angela (Daniel) Loving of Birmingham.
Preceding him in death is his mother.
