Carl G. Hoefer
Carl G. Hoefer, 97, of Germanville, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Parkview Home in Wayland.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 19, at Union Cemetery, near his home with the Rev. Robert Spilger officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials for the Brighton Volunteer First Responders may be mailed to Dennis Hoefer at 2598 Chimney Springs Drive, Marietta, Georgia, 30062. Gould Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on the home farm near Germanville, May 3, 1916, to George and Pauline Schmidt Hoefer. He lived on the family farm and attended Germanville country school Walnut No. 5. He married Erma Lucille Shuppy on Oct. 8, 1948. He was a farmer and worked for Dexter Co. in Fairfield for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, hunting, mushrooming and played baseball and softball for 27 years
He is survived by his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Ethiel Otto (Nick) Hoefer; and three sisters, Ethel Hass, Marie Fanning and Esther Bush.
