Celebrating the 4th in Mt. Pleasant
A 5 p.m. parade kicks off July 4 festivities in Mt. Pleasant.
The celebration once again will be at McMillan Park.
Following the parade, there will be train, carousel and steam engine rides, plus people will be given an opportunity to drive a tractor.
From 6-8 p.m. it will be “Meet Your Local Heroes.” Expected to attend are representatives from the medical community, Red Cross, Mt. Pleasant Fire Department, local law enforcement and Henry County Health Center’s EMS.
A steam engine spark show is scheduled at 9 p .m. followed by fireworks at dusk.
The MP 4th of July Committee also has front-row parking spaces (for the fireworks) for sale. A $25 donation toward the fireworks will reserve a parking space and picnic table south of the Wright Family Events Pavilion at the park. Parking spaces may be reserved by calling 319-931-6456.
