Changes at Z's Quickbreak
Some changes are taking shape at Z’s Quickbreak, Adams and Washington streets.
But 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the store remains open for business, confirms new owner Randy Stroud.
Purchasing the convenience store and fresh meat counter from Scott Zahren of South Amana, this is a change from Stroud’s most recent career field of legal mediation and consulting. But it connects with his previous experience for 20 years working for Hy-Vee Foods.
“Sometimes things just seem right,” he said recently about his purchase decision.
Also a veteran of 18 years with the Department of Corrections, Stroud says plans call for Z’s to expand its sit-down space and to create a more family-oriented atmosphere. That will include an expansion of the available WIFI, more available electronic connections for mobile devices, and a new television.
A new coffee bar and foundation area already has been installed. P.J. Marshall is meat department/deli manager, and additional employees may be added to those retained from the previous operation, according to Stroud.
