Commission asks for Civil War items
The Henry County Historic Preservation Commission held their Nov. 13, meeting at the Henry County Courthouse.
Topics on the agenda included the Henry County Historical Highlights column in county papers, county properties that consultant, Rebecca McCarley is researching a possible continuation of the work following the survey of the Winfield area several years ago, the Richwoods Church painting and sites in Wayland that might be eligible to be included on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
A request by Joy Conwell at the Iowa Wesleyan College Chadwick Library are stories of the Civil War relating to Henry County people, found in diaries and letters written during those years.
Do you have any Civil War items brought home by relatives? If so, Conwell is interested in seeing those as well.
The next meeting of the commission is Dec. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the courthouse.
