Construction nearing completion on Grand-Mapleleaf intersection
Weather permitting, construction on Grand Avenue should be finished on its intersection with Mapleleaf Drive to a point 75 feet south by July 26, according to Warner Engineering.
Warner said the Mapleleaf and Grand intersection will remain closed until the section of Grand Avenue south of Mapleleaf Drive is opened. The engineer said that it is hoped that the section will be opened by Aug. 16, contingent upon weather.
Mike Nelson Concrete will continue pouring on the Grand-Mapleleaf intersection this week. DeLong Construction, general contractor for the project, will be placing granular sub-base rock on this stretch and fine grading this week with hopes of turning the section over to Nelson Concrete the week of July 29th.
That will be followed by trimming and placing steel southward to the railroad overpass. Weather permitting, paving on this section will begin by Aug. 1.
Warner Engineering said work is progressing well despite last week’s extremely hot weather.
