Crane Caris, 79, of Fort Myers, FL died on July 10, 2014 at his residence under the care of Hope Hospice. He was born on April 2, 1935 in Evanston, IL, a son of Raymond L. and Martha (Crane) Caris.
A resident of Fort Myers for the past 24 years, he previously lived in Mt. Pleasant, IA where he received his BA degree from Iowa Wesleyan College and his Master in Education degree from the University of Iowa. Crane was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, the Hope United Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers, FL and a former member of the Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant, IA.
A high school guidance counselor for 32 years, he spent his career at the Shenandoah High School (IA) and the Mt. Pleasant High School.
Crane is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen M. (Holsteen) Caris, his son, David Crane Caris and his wife, Hallie Still-Caris of Des Moines, IA, his daughter, Martha Ann Caris of Fort Myers, FL and his grandchildren, Charlie of Washington, DC and Libby of Des Moines, IA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Barry Caris.
