Local activities: The Crawfordsville Alumni Banquet is being coordinated by the “Davis Committee.” The program will begin at 4:01 p.m. with dinner to follow, to allow time for an earlier departure for attendees, who need to travel a distance.

A request was received to serve a District Mission Retreat Luncheon on Aug. 17. This was tabled until more information is available.

It was suggested members be thinking about ideas for using the blessings box money.

Members are also to be thinking about moving the freezer to another location and the possibility of purchasing a free standing stove so that a larger oven could be utilized.

Three youth have requested camperships at Crooked Creek at different times.

It was also brought up that the Washington United Methodist Youth are planning a trip to Washington, D.C. May 28-June 6. Pastor Jim Stiles of the Washington Methodist Church will be going on the trip. Three youth from the United Church of Crawfordsville and one adult plan to attend.

Upcoming events:

The 88th annual Crawfordsville High School’s Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday evening, June 8, in the Fellowship Hall at the United Church of Crawfordsville.

The committee is trying something a little different this year. The evening will begin at 4:01 p.m. with the “Calling of Classes.” The business meeting will follow and a sharing time will be held before the dinner scheduled for 6 p.m.

After the dinner, people will be free to leave or stay and visit. All alumni, former students, teachers, spouses and friends are invited to attend.

These changes are being done to allow persons traveling a distance to return home at an earlier time.
