Eleven members of the Wednesday Study Club went on a tour of Washington County barn quilts on Wednesday, June 19.
Members met at Hy-Vee in Washington, and from there three cars were driven on the tour. The lead car had tour director Mary Chmelar from Washington, who was a representative of the Barn Quilts of Washington County organization. She had distributed information about the barn quilts to each vehicle, so it was unnecessary to get out of a car to view the quilt blocks and learn the story about each one.
The tour led west out of Washington on old Highway 92 to Tallyrand, which was on the Nature Loop of barn quilts.
The ladies at lunch at Tallyrand Café, then went north to join new Highway 92 back to Washington, which was on the Agriculture Loop of barn quilts.
Members agreed that the tour was most enjoyable and that the meal at Tallyrand was delicious.
It was an excellent “last meeting of the year” to enjoy. Meda Fulton was in charge of arrangements.
