Crawfordsville American Legion Post 593 hosted their annual Halloween Party Thursday evening, Oct. 31, at the WACO Elementary School in Crawfordsville. Legionnaires helping were Jeff Johnston, Mike Massey and Ernest Whiting. The judges for the costume contest were Eldon and Lennis Beichter and Sherri Horak.
Pre-school children participating in the contest were: Mira Christenson (a witch); Easton Trinidad (a farmer); Jessup Collier (lion) and Jeremy Collier (elephant.) Winner in this group was Easton Trinidad.
Kindergarten contestants were Audrey Smith (a lady bug); Izzy Collier (witch); Alisa Windslow (butterfly) and Lizzie Gerot (a princess.) Winner of this group was Lizzie Gerot.
First Grade: Peyton Graber (an old lady); Isaac Rich (a ninja). Winner of this group was Peyton Graber.
Second Grade: Catrina Sells (the little devil) and Zoe Denler (a cat). Winner was Zoe Denler.
Third Grade: Kalli Messer (a vampire), Noah Rich (grim reaper) and Drew Diers (a blue zombie). Winner was Noah Rich.
Fourth Grade: Lennon McClanahan (ghoul) and Zach Schmitz (gladiator) Lennon and Zach were both winners in this group.
Fifth Grade: Jennsa Baker (Bride Rapunzel) and she was the winner in this class.
Sixth Grade: Grace Hiller (a S’more), Dalton Diers (green lizard monster) Lexi Collier (vampire witch) and Laney Graber (the shadow.) The winner in this group was Grace Hiller.
The adult group was Darren Rickheim, Joseph Collier, Gabbie Perez, Begimai, Bruna, Karen Denler, Laura Schmitz, Jason Collier and Tina Collier.
The winners of each group were assembled and paraded in order to pick the overall winner. The Grand Prize winner was Peyton Graber.
There were thirty-five people in attendance for the Veteran’s Day dinner held at the Crawfordsville Legion Hall on Sunday, Nov. 11.
Legion Commander Jeff Johnston welcomed those present and Chaplain Dean Slater gave the prayer.
Ernest and Jan Whiting were in charge of preparing the meat that the American Legion Auxiliary had furnished, along with drinks.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, Nov. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville community room.
Twelve members and two prospective members, Craig Koehler and Lance Miller were present.
The Club President Lion Larry Fletcher led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance and the opening prayer.
After a meal catered and served by “Off the Beaten Path” the meeting reconvened.
In business: Christmas lights will be installed the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 30, at 9 a.m.
The blood drive will be held Monday, Dec. 2, at the United Church of Crawfordsville.
The Christmas party will be held Monday, Dec. 9 at the Bryn Mawr Supper Club.
The Christmas drawing will be held at the Fire Station on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. Santa will be present at 12:30 p.m.
The Lions annual Pancake Supper will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8.
