The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 10 members present.
Lion President Steve Williams opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Larry Fletcher offered a prayer.
After a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.
In the absence of Lion Secretary Nancy Love, Lion Billie Jo Rose read the minutes from the March 25 meeting. They were approved as read.
Lion Treasurer Randy Finke gave the treasurer’s report.
Correspondence was read from a Crawfordsville area resident requesting help in paying for eyeglasses. Following discussion, it was moved and seconded to act on this request. The motion carried.
Old business: It was reported that nine people had taken part in the road clean-up project Saturday morning, April 6, along Highway 218.
Members were reminded of the district convention to be held in Ft. Madison on Saturday, April 13, and also of the benefit for Craig Davey on Saturday evening, April 13.
The upcoming car show at the Crawfordsville Ball Park that will be held on Saturday, June 1, was also discussed.
There was no new business.
Lion Larry Fletcher made a motion to adjourn and it was seconded by Gene Miller. Motion carried.
The United Church of Crawfordsville will hold its annual Spring Rummage Sale April 25 to 27. On Thursday, April 25, it will run from 1 to 6 p.m.; Friday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, April 27, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
There will be clothes, knickknacks, toys, housewares and much, much more all for a free-will offering.
Names and contact information for any Crawfordsville area students that will be graduating from high school this spring are needed. The Membership and Mission Committee will be hosting a recognition breakfast on Sunday, May 19. Please leave this information on the secretary’s desk as soon as possible or call the church office at 319-658-2366.
Also, on Memorial Day, Sunday, May 26, a slideshow video during the regular church service at the United Church of Crawfordsville will be shown to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed.
Anytime before May 19, feel free to bring pictures to share with the congregation so their memory will be honored.
