Credit union has a new handle, effective today
As of today, May 1, The Henry County Community Credit Union, 100 S. Cherry St., is 5 Star Community Credit Union.
“With a vision of the future and after many moments of deliberation, the current board of directors, at a special meeting on Jan. 29, 2013, offered a proposal to change the name of our credit union, which was voted in by the members in attendance with a unanimous favorable decision,” says a news release from Mary J. Koontz, chief executive officer of the credit union.
“The Board has confidence that the name change will allow new and potential members, in our expanded field of membership, to more readily accept this credit union as their own.”
The news release stressed that the name change to 5 Star did not change the institution’s focus on the community and its members.
“Our loyal members now need to understand that the changing of our name does not mean we have forgotten who originated and built this credit union into the institution that it is today,” says the release. “We hope that our current members are aware that the decision, made by our volunteer board members are made with the well-being of the members placed first and foremost. “
Along with new signage, logo and documents, the credit union’s Web site address is now www.5starcu.org. Those who use theold Web address, www.henrycountycu.org, will be redirected to the new 5 Star site, says the news release.
Besides Koontz, 5 Star Community Credit Union employees include Kim Clay, loan officer; Crystal Longhust, back office specialist; Kim Danielson, collections; and Susan Sammons, Sherry Higdon, Joni Hummell, Pam Halbach and Dave Oliver, tellers. Board members are Jeff Beavers, Jill Daniel, Judy Feehan, Marlin Ford, Mark Johnston, Ed Seggerman, Jim Snyder, Kevin Wellington and Chad White.
