Danny Gill, 66, Maquoketa and formerlly of Brighton, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Washington with the Rev. Daryl Carr officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Plain Cemetery in Brighton. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A general memorial fund has been established.
He was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, and was the son of Harry and Edna Roberts. He was married to Mary Ann Smith Gill. He worked at the Crane Company in Washington for many years. He enjoyed fishing, collecting pop cans, walking and playing with the grandkids.
Survivors include his wife;, four step-children, Sue Ann Smith of Washington, Frances (Willie) Williams of Washington, Roger Smith of Brighton, Helen Smith of Washington; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bert (Ben) Turner of Washington, Kaye (Jerry) Blanchard of Oskaloosa, Arlene (Tim) Hauser of Washington, Vickie (Kit) Taylor of Louisianna; and four brothers, Ron Roberts of Brighton, John (Tammy) Roberts of Okalahoma, Gary Roberts of Brighton, and Terry (Sheryl) Roberts of Indiana.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one step-daughter, Peggy Young; one brother, Ralph Roberts; two sisters, Charlene Roberts and Jo Howell; two step-brothers, Bob and Don Ritz; and one great-grandson.
