David A. Taylor
David A. Taylor, 58, Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Iowa City and Treynor, died Friday, June 7, 2013 in the emergency room of the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swedesburg. The Rev. Mark Youngquist will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Treynor. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Kimzey Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. The family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born Dec. 19, 1954, in Council Bluffs. He was the son of Virgil Boyd and Helen Elaine (Mackland) Taylor. He grew up in Treynor and graduated from Treynor High School in 1972. On July 28, 1990, he married Nancy Claire Tipton.
He was conferred with a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He worked for the Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo as a counselor. During that time, he completed his master’s degree in social work at the University of Iowa. He accepted a position with the Area Education Agency 16, first out of the Burlington office and later with the Mt. Pleasant office.
He was a member of the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church and the National Association of Social Workers. He liked trains, comic books, the Iowa Hawkeyes and playing with his dogs.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Hannah Taylor and Joe Taylor, both of Mt. Pleasant; his mother of Treynor; two brothers, Michael (Kay) Taylor and William (Becky) Taylor, all of Council Bluffs; and two sisters, Patricia (Richard Martin) Taylor of Omaha, Neb. and Pamela Taylor of Council Bluffs.
His father preceded him in death.
