David Scott Howard
David Scott Howard, 55, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, in Iowa City.
The funeral service for Howard will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, at 10:30 a.m., at Elliott Chapel, with Rev. Charles Comfort officiating. Interment will be held at Trinity Cemetery, in rural Mt. Union. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, Feb. 16, with the family present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A memorial has been established.
Howard was born on April 3, 1961, in Cedar Falls, the son of Virginia Van Heuvelen and Fred Sampson Howard Jr. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1979, and earned his AA degree from Hawkeye Tech in 1985. On May 20, 1994, he married Debra Ruth Carter, in Mt. Pleasant.
He worked as an MLT (medical lab technician) at Henry County Health Center for 31 years.
He was of the Christian faith.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, telling jokes, cooking, music, playing guitar, and spending time with his family and friends.
Howard is survived by his wife, Deb; one son, Nathan Howard, of Mt. Pleasant; one step-daughter, Lindsey (Jon) Myers, of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Alan (Mary) Howard, of Cedar Falls, and Bruce (Bobbie) Howard, of Guam.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
