Dilks places eighth at state
Mt. Pleasant's Justin Dilks placed eighth in the 182-pound weight class at the state wrestling tournament.
Dilks, who ends the season with a record of 27-8, lost the seventh-place match to Algona's Tyler Frideres (35-11) by a 6-3 decision, and took his place on the podium for the first time on Saturday.
The Mt. Pleasant junior also wrestled at the state tournament as a freshman, but was one match away from placing.
“I wanted to get higher on the podium, but I think that overall, we (the Mt. Pleasant wrestlers) did better than a lot of people expected,” Dilks said. “We had a good year as a team, and definitely ended the season on a good note.”
