Coralville Reservoir

The lake level has reached 679.3 feet (normal spring drawdown pool level). The lake is ice free, but no docks are in at the ramps yet. Channel catfish — fair: some fish are being caught up by the 965/380 bridges. Shad guts/fillets have been working best.

The area below the Coralville Dam is open but is dirty from the lake being drawn down. Outflow on April 3 is approximately 1,300 CFS. There has been some fishing activity but no reports are available.

Wapsi River (Troy Mills to Oxford Junction)

The Pinicon Ridge backwaters are open. The boat ramp at Pinicon Ridge is open. The boat ramp at Wapikada is still closed. The boat ramp at Troy Mills is open. The boat ramp at Matsell Bridge is open. Walleye — slow: there has been some fishing activity below the Central City dam.

For more information, contact the Lake Macbride Fisheries Station at 319-624-3615.

Red Haw Lake

The fishing activity has been slow. There have been some small largemouth bass caught.

Lake Sugema

Very little fishing activity has been occurring, but some anglers were able to catch some small largemouth bass.

East Greater Ottumwa Central Park Pond

There were 2,000 trout stocked on March 30. Anglers should try in-line spinners or prepared trout baits. Don't forget a trout stamp is required for possessing or fishing for trout.

Rathbun Reservoir

The current lake level is 903.85 feet. The water temperature is 41 degrees. At this time of year, anglers should try to catch some ice out channel catfish using cutbait or shad guts on windblown shorelines. Don't forget Lake Rathbun contains zebra mussels so make sure to clean, drain and dry equipment before transporting to another water body.

Contact the Rathbun Fish Hatchery at 641-647-2406 with questions regarding angling in south central Iowa.
