Dorothy A. Huff
Dorothy A. Huff, 99, formerly of the Harrisburg Community north of Bonaparte, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at University Hospital, Iowa City.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, the Rev. Mark Caston officiating. Visitation with family present will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Vale Cemetery, north of Bonaparte. Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 28002 230th St., LeClaire, Iowa 52753.
She was born July 14, 1914, in rural Bonaparte to Samuel and Mary Swink Downs and married Benjamin Franklin Huff Dec. 22, 1934. He preceded her in death.
The couple farmed in the Harrisburg community. She was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church which she served many years as clerk, had been a 4-H leader and was active in the Republican Party. She enjoyed music and singing with the other residents at the care center.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Kenny) Erickson of Story City; two sons, Roger (Joan) Huff of LeClaire and Stanley (Marcia) Huff of Vacaville, Calif.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jessie Borgman of Eldridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers, Delbert and Roger Downs.
