Dover Museum to hold free program about Southeast Iowa Honor tours on Sunday
Southeast Iowa’s Honor Tours will be the free program presented at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June, 1 at New London’s Dover Museum.
New London native and retired Missouri physician, Don Pruess, will show slides and tell of these three-day tours taken by World War II veterans to visit the World War II Memorial and the rest of the important sites in Washington, D.C.
Pruess accompanied six of the 10 flights from this area which began in 2008.
This was the first time some of these veterans had visited our nation’s capital, stayed in large hotels and been catered to.
Memorabilia will be on display during the program.
Following the program, the museum and railroad depot will be open for tours. Facilities are handicap accessible and refreshments will be served.
