Dover Museum will have WWI items on display
In conjunction with the dedication of the New London Veteran’s Memorial Saturday, April 12 at noon, the Dover Museum will have a special exhibit of World War I memorabilia donated by the families of New London veterans, August Horn and Rex Orndorff.
The late Lois Johnson was the daughter of August Horn and five of Lois’ children reside in New London. Rex Orndorff’s local relatives include Milo McCabe of New London and Sherri Mederios of Mt. Pleasant. Both Horn and Orndorff served in France, where Horn was a currier, riding an Indian motorcycle to perform his duties in central France.
On display will be uniforms, personal items, military papers, gas masks, photographs, a mother’s star pin and on loan, an Italian gun brought back from the conflict there by Baltimore Township resident Mr. Ruhm.
Beverages and sheet cakes will be served.
The museum and depot will be open following the dedication until 4 p.m. and again on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
There is no charge and both are handicap accessible.
