Duran A. Richenberger
Duran A. Richenberger, 60, of Wellman, and formerly of Wayland, died on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., at Kalona Mennonite Church, with Rev. Josh Lundberg and Rev. Scott Swartzendruber officiating. Burial will be held at the North Hill Cemetery, in Wayland. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 21, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Kalona Mennonite Church.
A memorial fund has been established for the Iowa Bicycle Coalition.
Richenberger was born on Feb. 21, 1957, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Glen and Geraldine (Kaiser) Richenberger. He graduated from WACO High School. On Dec. 22, 1977, he was united in marriage to Tracy Conner, in Mt. Pleasant.
He worked in a foundry for many years and was employed by Chris Schlabach Construction, in Kalona.
He enjoyed collecting trains, bicycling, playing the piano, spending time with his family, and participating in RAGBRAI.
Richenberger is survived by his wife, Tracy, of Wellman, two children, Eric Richenberger, of Wellman, and Laura (Micah) Scott, of Richmond; two granddaughters; his mother, of Wayland; three siblings, Stan (Mary Lou) Richenberger, of Wayland, Michael Richenberger, of Wayland, and Cynthia Richenberger, of Cedar Rapids; and his step- mother, Patricia Richenberger, of Mt. Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his step-father, Harold Rixe.
