Economic development tops topics at legislative briefing
Economic development will be the major topic Saturday morning at the third legislative briefing of the Iowa legislative session.
State Rep. Dave Heaton, R-Mt. Pleasant, and State Sen. Rich Taylor, D-Mt. Pleasant, will be joined on the panel by Jason Hutcheson, president and CEO of the Greater Burlington Partnership. Hutcheson also is a member of the Professional Developers of Iowa Board of Directors and Legislative Affairs Committee.
This month’s briefing provides area residents the chance to learn how lawmakers intend to maintain Iowa’s competitiveness in business attraction and retention. The final 45 minutes of the briefing are open to other topics of state interest besides economic development.
The briefing will run from 8:30-10 a.m. in the Chadwick Library’s International Room on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan College.
Legislators will return for the final briefing Saturday, April 27, which will include a review of the legislative session.
