Edith Iva Jenkins, 82, Farmington, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Keosauqua.
Friends may call and meet with the family from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 8, at the Bonaparte Baptist Church in Bonaparte. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Bonaparte Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Caston officiating. Burial will be at the Bonaparte Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.The Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home of Farmington is assisting the family with arrangements. Born June 13, 1931, in Northern Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Fredrick and Minnie (Rudy) Dietsch. On Dec. 5, 1946, she married Myron Barnes. On June 22, 1963, she married Ottis E. Jenkins. He preceded her in death.
She was a lifetime member of the Bonaparte Baptist Church. She worked for years as a CNA, medical aide and restorative therapist. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading and her family.
Survivors include one son, Cecil (Peggy) Barnes of Ft. Madison; two daughters, Cheryl (Sonny) Hootman of Farmington and Colleen (Steve) Treece of Keosauqua; one sister, Margaret Parker of Burlington; special friend, John Jones; nine grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ottis; and two brothers, Donald and Paul.
