Eric Chaponniere, 27, of Washington, D.C., passed away February 27, 2014. He was born May 26, 1986 in Zephyrhills Florida, the son of John Chaponniere and Carolyn (Porter) Morris. He attended Mt. Pleasant schools and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 2004, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and received an Academic Letter Award. He received a degree in Criminal Justice and served as a Community Adviser at Iowa State University.
Eric was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He traveled with his troop to Philmont, Arizona for a two week wilderness survival camp. He enjoyed an active lifestyle and has also traveled to France and Monaco with his Mt. Pleasant French Class.
For the past five years he had been employed by Hilton Hotels and Resorts, Orlando, FL. He received three consecutive Connie Awards as well as the Housekeeping Award. He recently had been promoted to Director of Housekeeping and moved to Washington, D.C.
Eric is survived by his parents John Chaponniere and Carolyn (Richard) Morris; two brothers Paul and David, and sister Nicole. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Bob and Penny Porter. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Victoria Agoglia, a nephew, a niece and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving family. He was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Theresa Chaponniere, his uncle Ferman Geiger Sr., and his cousin Wendy Servies.
Eric was a unique soul and will be truly missed by his loving family, friends and by anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
