Five MP football players named all-district
Five Mt. Pleasant football players were selected for the Class 3A District 7 all-district team. Two more Panthers received an honorable mention, and five received academic all-district honors.
— Dalton Conrad, senior
Conrad was the Panthers’ top receiver this season, making 37 catches for 589 yards to finish fifth in total receiving yards in the district, and was key to the Panthers’ pass-centered offense. Conrad was chosen by his teammates as the Panthers’ Co-MVP, sharing the honor with quarterback Connor Shull.
— Connor Shull, senior
The Mt. Pleasant quarterback completed 50 percent of his passes this season for 1,154 yards, putting him in the 1,000-yard club at Mt. Pleasant Community High School. Shull threw for six touchdowns this season, including a 59-yard pass to Conrad.
— Alex O’Donnell, senior
It is difficult to find something that O’Donnell doesn’t do. The defensive back and wide receiver for the Panthers started on both sides of the ball, and as punter and punt/kick returner, O’Donnell was instrumental for the Panthers in all facets of the game. His 59-yard punt tied for the 15th-longest in Class 3A and third in District 7 this season, and his average of 39.6 yards per punt was fourth in the district.
— Emmett Wester, senior
Starting on the offensive line for Mt. Pleasant, Wester was lauded as an excellent run and pass blocker by Panther Head Coach Bob Jensen. The senior received the Outstanding Lineman Award this year and was also a starting tackle for the Panther defense.
— Carson Remick, junior
A starting linebacker for the second year, Remick had 96 tackles this season, leading the Panthers in that category and finishing sixth overall in the district. Remick, who also started on offense at fullback, made 39 solo tackles and 57 assists. The junior was also chosen as his team’s Defensive Player of the Year this season.
— Justin Dunn, senior
Dunn, a Mt. Pleasant defensive lineman, had 42 tackles for the Panthers this season, including a team-high eight solo tackles for loss and one solo sack.
— Justin Dilks, junior
Dilks was a starting linebacker for the Panthers, and was right behind Dunn with 41 tackles this season.
The Panthers’ academic all-district honorees are junior Josh Larson, Remick, junior Matthew Scudder, Dunn and Wester.
