Frahm receives award for care
Mt. Pleasant resident Carolyn Frahm was one of nearly 90 volunteers recognized for her contributions at the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa’s annual honored volunteer ceremony, which was held in Des Moines on Sept. 13.
“Carolyn donates her time, her sewing talents, materials and friendship in the most kind and loving ways. I am so grateful for her,” said local HCI Hospice Care volunteer coordinator Machelle Lowe.
Like many, Frahm was inspired to volunteer after personally experiencing loss when her father died five years ago, and she saw a call for volunteers in the newspaper. HCI Hospice Care Services (then Hospice of Central Iowa).
“It’s not about me, it’s about them,” Frahm said, referencing the patients and families she assists. “I hope I bless people as much as I’ve been blessed – or more than I have been blessed I should say.”
In addition to volunteering for HCI Hospice Care Services, Frahm also volunteers for programs through Faith Christian Outreach Church, as well as for the school and for Arbor Court.
