George “Gabe” K. Gabeline, 61, Rapid City, S.D., died at Clarkson Health Care, S.D., on March 8, 2013.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Home, Rapid City, S.D. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 12, at 10 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior to the service at First United Methodist, Rapid City, S.D. The Rev. John Britt will be officiating. A committal service will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery.

He was born on July 11, 1951, in Mt. Pleasant, to Donald and Doris Gabeline.

He graduated from Winfield-Mt. Union High School in 1969. He then attended college at Muscatine Community College. Following college, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1971 and served until he retired in 1995. During this time he lived all over the world, including Turkey, Germany, Italy and Japan. After military retirement, he was self-employed as a professional flooring specialist.

He married Teresa (Reich) Gabeline on Oct. 27, 1984. He was involved in many clubs and additional jobs, such as part-time greeter at the Civic Center, president of the Honda Riders Club, Mogul Mashers of Misawa AB in Japan, member of the Masonic Lodge, and ski instructor.

He enjoyed many activities, such as riding his motorcycles, camping, snow skiing, golfing, water skiing, bowling, racquetball, hiking, scuba diving and was a collector of many things.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Heather (Jamie) Gabeline of Rapid City, S.D.; step-son, Matt Laib of Bothell, Wash.; two grandsons; sister, Donna (Jack) Gabeline Carroll of Montreal, Quebec; and brother, Ward (Trina) Gabeline of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
