Gertrude I. McCarty
Gertrude I. McCarty, 96, of Tuscon, Ariz. and formerly of Argyle, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at her home.
Friends may call and meet with the family from noon-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson.
Burial will be in the Oakland Sand Cemetery near Vincennes.

She worn Aug. 14, 1916 in Farmington, the daughter of William Pearl and Irene Ota Wilsey Jeffers. On June 12, 1937, at Ft. Madison, she married James Robert McCarty. He preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of the Argyle High School. In the 1930s she was a telephone switchboard operator in and Illinois. Later she and her husband owned and operated McCarty Implement in Donnellson. She was a member of the Melrose United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include five daughters, Donna (Paul) Davis of Iowa City, Patricia Oudyn of Yorkville, Marcia Bollin of Tuscon, Ariz., Peggy McCarty of Tuscon, Ariz. and Lana (Dennis) Lewis of Ft. Dodge; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joan Evans of Colchester, Ill., Neva Springer of Wayland, Mo., and Mary Elizabeth Case of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one granddaughter.
