When Golden Eagle Distributing came to Mt. Pleasant in 2011 to consolidate their Iowa operations, they brought 20-25 new jobs with them, and they are content with their results.
“We’ve hired a lot since we’ve been here,” said Crissy Riesenbeck-Spratt, Golden Eagle general manager.
Golden Eagle Distributing came to Mt. Pleasant in 2011 to consolidate their operations from Ottumwa and Burlington and employ 60 full time and part time employees.
The facility is a 47,700 square-foot, climate controlled warehouse and 23,200 square-foot two story office.
While 20-25 of their employees were hired when the operation came to Mt. Pleasant, the remainder of the employees were with the company previously and were relocated.
“Our management and sales team came with us, our operations department we hired new,” said Riesenbeck-Spratt.
Golden Eagle is a beverage distributer, mostly working with Anhueser-Busch.
“We distribute beer, soda, mixers, energy drinks and tea. The beers that we distribute are mainly Anhueser-Bush products,” Riesenbeck-Spratt said.
Currently, the company has several days of inventory sitting in their storerooms in preparation for the summer season.
“We have 25 days worth of inventory right now, which will change depending on the selling season. We have different months of the year that are busier than others. Right now we are building up for the summer, so we have 25 days of inventory,” explained Riesenbeck-Spratt. “We could do business for 25 days without having any new product brought in.”
While the company is happy with their move to Mt. Pleasant, they have no immediate plans to expand their operation further.
“We are always looking to expand, but we have no plans at this time to expand,” said Riesenbeck-Spratt.
The Mt. Pleasant Facility serves 18 counties in southeast Iowa, and the Mt. Pleasant location was selected due to its central location to the counties and access to a major highway.
Golden Eagle also has facilities in Hannibal, Mo., and Kirksville, Mo.
Along with beverages, employees are proud of the two Clydesdale statues, one on the roof nicknamed “Dale” and one in front of the main entrance nicknamed “Clyde.”
The facility has a large warehouse, keg room, several offices, a break room, a conference room and an area under construction where they hope to have a reception room and future beer garden.
Golden Eagle Distributing also prints all of their promotional banners and signs in-house in their design room.
