Grand to be opened this Friday; park project is ahead of schedule
Plans are to have all of Grand Avenue open for traffic Friday, Oct. 4, and to have the concrete work done around Central Park by Oct. 12, weather permitting, according to Warner Engineering Associates, Inc. of Mt Pleasant, the engineering firm for both projects.
Striping and symbol installation will be done on Grand today and tomorrow. The seeding crew will finish seeding and mulching Wednesday, weather permitting.
Following the seeding and mulching, the street will be swept and cleaned.
Mike Nelson Concrete will be finishing miscellaneous patches on the frontage road, the Cherry and Baker intersections with Grand, and the Orscheln Farm and Home driveways Oct. 2-11, weather permitting.
In the square area, the pours of travel lanes to the centerline of Main, Monroe and Jefferson streets are to be finished by Wednesday.
Zaiser Construction will be installing light pole bases around the square beginning on Wednesday, a project that is anticipated to take two or three days.
Kinney & Sons will be working on grading for the new sidewalk around the square and interior sidewalks.
Nelson will begin pouring the sidewalk around the square Oct. 7 and hopes to have it completed by Oct. 12. The pouring of the sidewalks in the park is slated to begin by Oct. 14, if the electric and water infrastructure installation has been completed.
Warner Engineering said the square project is progressing considerably ahead of schedule.
