IMCA Late Model racers will take to the 34 Raceway track next Saturday, April 6, for the Fifth Annual Slocum 50. A prize of $5,555 will go to the winner of the 50 lap Deery Brothers Summer Series feature. A $538 Honus Bonus will go to the leader on lap 38 from family and friends of Jeremy “Honus” Wagner. Wagner, who was killed in a car accident, had a passion for racing and was a wrench man for the #38 late model driven by Colby Springsteen.
The Saturday show will be the 48th Deery event held at West Burlington’s 34 Raceway. Mike Murphy Jr. of Colona, Ill., became the 29th different winner there during last April’s race, which was held in memory of the 2004 Late Model track champion at 34 Raceway, Brent Slocum.
Also competing for track points will be the Weikert Iron and Metal Sport Mods and I Connect You, Louisa Communications 4 Cylinders.
