Harold D. “Buck” Sammons, 62, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at his home.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Lambirth Cemetery rural Mt. He was born on May 17, 1951, in Mt. Pleasant, and was the son of Merlyn E. and Erma A. Piper Sammons. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1970, and married Debra Stagner on June 12, 1970.
He owned and operated Sammons Auto Sales in rural Mt. Pleasant for 40 years. He was involved in the Salem Lions Club, Lockridge Rough Riders, Salem Recreation League serving as a coach and a board member, Boy Scout Leader, enjoyed fishing, hunting and restoring tractors and antique garden tractors. He was involved in the Antique Garden Tractor Club of Midwest Old Threshers.
He is survived by his wife; his children, David (Tracy) Sammons of Mt. Pleasant, Rachel (Heather Moses) Lenz of Gilson, Ill. and Shelley (Kendall) Graber of Mt. Pleasant; eight grandchildren; his mother of Mt. Pleasant; and one sister, Merlene (Bill) Wilson of Mt. Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his father; one granddaughter; and one brother, Ricky.
