Helen Francis Prickett
Helen Francis Prickett, 99, Salem, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Pleasant Manor Care Center, Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, at Elliott Chapel, New London. The Rev. Jared Haley will officiate. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London. Visitation will begin after noon on Wednesday, Nov. 20, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to Salem Friends Church, Relay For Life and the Pleasant Manor Activity Fund.
She was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Winfield, and was the daughter of Oscar Charles and Charlotte “Lottie” Pearle Munshower Swan. On Feb. 23, 1935, she married Virgil George Prickett. He preceded her in death. She was a 1934 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a member of Salem Friends Church.
She was a homemaker. She loved working with her flowers and tending her garden. She enjoyed being outside and walking. She enjoyed listening to and music, especially sacred songs.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Deborah) Prickett of Burlington, and Randy Prickett of Salem; three daughters, Shirley Giberson of Hillsboro, Judy (Melvin) George of Hamilton, Ill., and Barbara Prickett of Salem; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lyle (Lola) Swan of Mt. Pleasant.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Ronald and James; and a great-grandson.
