Four charged with possession

Joshua VanLaningham of Mt. Pleasant, Natasha Thornton of Salem, Thomas Weber of New London and Lucas Messer of Mt. Pleasant were all charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age following an investigation.

A loud noise complaint was investigated in New London by the sheriff’s department on Tuesday, May 8. As a result of the investigation the four Henry County residents were charged.

No ages were listed for the offenders.

Car strikes deer near Westwood

Steven Rheinschmidt, no age listed, of West Burlington was operating his 2011 Kia when he struck a deer in the roadway. The accident occurred just west of Westwood on Highway 34.

Damage to the Kia was estimated at $4,000.

No injuries were reported.
