Heying leads Wolves to winW-MU girls’ golf team falls in meet at Lone Tree, Edwards earns medalist honors
LONE TREE — Led by medalist Brody Heying, the Winfield-Mt. Union boys’ golf team topped Lone Tree in an away meet on Monday night, picking up a 152-205 win.
W-MU’s Grace Edwards was the medalist for the girls, but the Wolves couldn’t pull out a team win, falling to Lone Tree by a score of 208-231.
Edwards finished with a score of 45. Three other girls also golfed for W-MU: Shelby Therme scored 57, Hanna Koontz shot a 62 and Katie Benson finished at 67.
On the boys’ side, the Wolves had three golfers under 40: Heying shot a 35, followed closely by Jake Edwards with a score of 36. Klayton Booth completed the course in 38 strokes. Kolt Rossiter wrapped up the Wolves’ score with a 43. Also golfing for W-MU were Sam Jennings (44) and Thayne McElhinney (46).
The Wolves will host Wapello on Thursday at Twin Lakes Golf Club in Winfield.
