The holiday season is in full swing, and the Healthy Henry County Communities committee took a moment to slow down and socialize, while thanking all those involved to make Henry County a healthier place.
“All board members, program coordinators and other supporters were invited to our holiday open house last night (Thursday) to show appreciation for their service and support. We only held a small meeting in order to approve new board members, who will begin their terms in January,” said Kelly Carr, Healthy Communities Coordinator.
HHCC had many openings available to be a part of the committee and during the short meeting, Willy Amos (Hy-Vee), Julie Brown (Steffes Realty), Ken Brown (Fellowship Cup director), Bob Griffith (juvenile probation officer), Rich McNamee (Henry County sheriff), Amy Pullis (Mt. Pleasant Middle School guidance counselor), Cherry Sandeen (Substance Abuse Coalition) and Sara Titus (Iowa Wesleyan College) were all approved to be a part of HHCC.
The board also thanked and recognized the exiting board members. Those members were Melisa Bracht-Wagner, Dave Christensen, Sarah Donnolly and Carol Gard. “We appreciate your service on the board,” Carr said.
The committee also approved during the meeting new executive committee members Cherry Sandeen and Ron Archer.
The rest of the evening provided socializing and relaxation as this was the last meeting of the year.
The Healthy Henry County Communities committee will meet again Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 1-2:30 p.m. at the ISU Extension office, in the lower-level meeting room.
