On Jan. 8, the Cadette troop met for their monthly meeting. The meeting was opened with the Girl Scout Promise, Law and Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was answered by the girls naming their favorite Girl Scout cookies.
Business included training for the upcoming cookie sales. Members were shown the new recognitions and checked out the new cookie, Mango Creme.
A troop crest was voted on, and the pansy became the troop crest.
Members were given information of how to earn the “My Promise, My Faith” pin.
Members earned their “Think Big,” “Marketing” and “Business Plan” badges.
Upcoming events were announced, including the athletic summit at Iowa Wesleyan College and Iowa’s Women’s basketball game at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
The troop voted to have two booth sales in Mt. Pleasant on Feb. 8 in the afternoon and on Feb. 9 in the morning.
The next meeting will be Feb. 12 at 4 p.m. in the Hillsboro Public Library.
The Harmony High School junior class is sponsoring a soup supper Thursday, Jan. 24, at the high school cafeteria. Serving begins at 5 p.m.
The juniors will be serving chili, chicken noodle soup, cake and beverages. It is a free-will donation with all proceeds going towards prom.
Effective immediately, the Hillsboro Public Library will have new hours 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Saturday hours will remain the same, 9 to 11 a.m.
It’s freezing outside! You’re invited to the Hillsboro Public Library’s first ever “Freeze Out.” Come join Casey at the library Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. for hot games, sizzling fun and some blistering good snacks.
Bring along a friend and a desire to play.
